Values: The core convictions that shape the life of this church family as we learn to live and love more like Jesus.
Inclusive Hospitality: Because everyone is welcomed: Openness
Jesus’ saving work was an inclusive event, tearing down boundaries and perceived walls between people. Jesus called everyone to him, especially those who were excluded from power and prominence.
At Crossroads we affirm that all people, regardless of skin color, sexual orientation, political affiliation, or economic status, are invited to be fully included in Jesus’ church. We desire to be a church that reflects the beautiful diversity of our city.
Embodied Generosity: Because we Share our Gifts: Trust
Our humanness makes us want to close our hands in fear. We believe that scarcity should not be a fear in God’s family.
When we open our lives to others, our resources we are reflecting the generosity of God and helping to bring blessing and relieve suffering, as God’s family is called to do.
Purposeful Change: Because living things grow: Intentionality
Stagnant water doesn’t support life and neither does a stagnant church. The Holy Spirit is alive and moving, and our job is to keep up.
In our personal faith and in our church community we should be seeking and realizing growth and development. Your life with God should be maturing and growing as you engage in spiritual practices and in the life of the community.
As a church, we need to be aware of cultural changes and be ready to adapt in order to remain an engaging and formative institution.
Mutually Dependent: Because everyone is needed: Commitment
You can join a country club and have a wait staff cater to you. You can buy a ticket to attend a show with no expectations placed upon you.
The church is different. We commit ourselves to one another for maturity, accountability, and support. In order to mature and grow we need the gifts that each of us brings. We commit to one another with our prayers, our presence, our resources, and our service.
The church is effective and healthy when everyone is intentionally committed to its growth and well being.
Maturing Grace: Because building a community is hard work: Grace
Living in a life connected to others takes grace. We have to learn to live with each other’s idiosyncrasies and at the same time be willing to speak up for what is important.
As a community of grace, we are willing to have difficult conversations and own our trespasses against one another as we seek to live within the unified will of God. Grace is a hallmark attribute of God, and we can practice grace as we seek to live God-centered lives together.
Empowering Leadership: Because we need to lift others as we lead: Humility
In this community, we don’t serve because we feel that we are better than someone else. We are called to servant leadership, for a particular season, in order to give of ourselves through our particular gifts so that others may benefit.
We are always seeking to raise up and empower new leaders.
